If you've ever written a book or article, or even if you just regularly write a blog, you'll already be familiar with some aspects of the proofreading and editing process. As writers, we naturally revise, proofread, alter and edit as part of our practice and if you've reached this stage, you probably have numerous files on your computer named with the append 'version 1' (..2., ..3., ...4.. etc.).
This process is vital for any piece of writing to become publishable, appealing to its reader, and clear in its message. Typos, lack of structure or an absence of clarity can distract the reader from what you're aiming to say, leaving both parties with a sense of having
lost out on something and, in the worst cases, an unmistakable feeling of disappointment. It's difficult to edit your own work, especially if it's an extensive piece such as a book, and comprehensive proofreading can be tricky when you're dealing with work you're so close to.
I have more than ten years' experience of proofreading and editing and have worked on both fiction and non-fiction titles, as well as academic papers, long-form essays, and commercial prose such as website content. I've also coached writers to help them bring more elegance and clarity to their writing. In short, I know how to make your words work for you!
